Sail for Hope - Last Blast of the Season in Newport
Join us October 15th as we support the Red Cross, the Warrior Sailing Program, and new this year, the Edward Oliver "Tad" Sanchez Memorial Fund to start a big boat youth sailing program at Sail Newport.
EDWARD OLIVER "TAD" SANCHEZ MEMORIAL FUND
The passing of Tad this year, much too early in his young life, was a stunning loss in our sailing community. Tad grew up in the areas of Block Island and the Cape and much of his adult life he sailed in Newport on many magnificent racing yachts including Titan, Harrier, Shockwave, Akela, Encore and Laura (KZ-5)He had a distinct passion for racing and wholeheartedly supported youth sailing. In that spirit, Tad's
family, along Jim Gibson and Donna Kelly, has started a fund at Sail Newport in his name to launch a big boat youth sailing program. Sail Newport will create new opportunities for young sailors to experience and learn about cruising and racing. At the same time we will honor Tad's incredible maritime background, marine art talent, love of sailing and his immense heart. (Tad pictured left)
