C420 Fall Clinics and Regattas

Traps and Chutes C420 Fall Training:
Sail Newport will be running Sunday practices with the intent of providing C420 sailors with the exposure to the best in refining boat handling techniques, tactics and strategy, regatta management, conditioning and more!  With an maximum 5:1 boat to coach ratio, sailors will get lots of attention and coaching feedback.  This is a great way to take advantage of typically good fall sailing conditions and to continue the training from the summer.

Training is offered for experienced C420 sailors who have at a minimum a complete summer season of competitive C420 racing under their belt, and should be comfortable in sailing in a wide range of wind and sea conditions, who have a partner to sail with..
The clinic days are much more structured and rigorous than a typical summer program schedule.  While fun is a critical component of the fall racing program, it is found through the shared experience of learning new skills, challenging one-self as well as being challenged, and commitment to putting forth the effort.
The focus is on race management, tactics, starting strategy, boat speed, and boat-to-boat decision making.  The goal is to help sailors meet their personal racing goals whether that is building on skills learned over the summer, or finishing in the top 25 at the C420 Mid-Winters at the end of September.  We will push this group over the fall both with sailing and fitness to ensure that they are ready for the fall season, and for spring and summer sailing next year!
Charter boats are available,  Please email Kim Hapgood  with your interest and needs.

C420 Traps and Chutes Training is offered Sundays from the weekend of September 16th through the Halloween Howl the weekend of Saturday - Sunday, October 27th-28thth.  Coaching will also be available for the C420 Mid-Atlantic Coast Championship being hosted at Niantic YC, Niantic, CT Sat-Sun, September 29th - 30th and the Halloween Howl at Sail Newport, October 27th - 28th.

Sign-up for the fall program is on a first-come, first serve basis, and a completed registration and payment module must be submitted to insure a spot. Please note that skipper and crew must each sign-up individually.  Sailors may register for the discounted package for all Sundays and coaching at the Mid-Atlantics, or a 3 Sunday package (must identify the 3 Sundays at LEAST 7 days in advance).
We want to insure that the best coaches are available to work with the team, and that the right number of coaches is available for the number of sailors on hand, and that means planning ahead!
