The mission of the Sail Newport Education program is to provide hands-on educational opportunities for children in our community to be exposed to life on and under the waters of Narragansett Bay and beyond.  The education program at Sail Newport will expose and educate participants to the fundamentals of sailing, sustainability, marine science, weather and ocean conservation in partnership with related non-profit organizations and educational institutions.

Beginning in September 2017,  Sail Newport will partner with the Newport Public School System for Pell 4th-graders to learn to sail as part of their regular school day, tying in parallel elements from the STEM curriculum including science, technology, math and, sustainability.

This innovative 16-week program will provide hands-on experiential learning both on and off the water.  Students will use the Newport Harbor, Narragansett Bay, and Fort Adams State Park as their real-world classroom for a few hours each week. A land-based curriculum also will be integrated.
