Hungarian Sailor Beats 20 Other Nations to Win Byte C II Worlds at Sail Newport

NEWPORT,RI (August 28, 2013) - Jonatan Vadnai, a 15 years-old, of Hungary dominated a fleet of 38 youth sailors from 21 nations by winning eight of 13 races and capturing the 2013 Byte C II Championships at Sail Newport today. Although the scoreboard shows a sweep by the young Hungarian sailor, second place Henry Marshall, the only American sailor in the championship, was in a virtual match race with Vadnai over five days of racing. Also, the event was a qualifier for the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China. Nations qualified through the top five male sailors include Hungary, United States, Croatia, Singapore and Canada. From the female top five, Hungary, Netherlands, Bermuda, Singapore and the Dominican Republic earned a spot at the youth games.
