New Fleet Commissioned

New Fleet of J22s Commissioned at Sail Newport

A spectacular line up of fourteen brand new J22s were christened with champagne and dedicated on Saturday, June 1 at the Sail Newport Alofsin Piers. The boats will be used for Sail Newport's public access sailing programs for youth and adults. The fleet will be busy throughout the season for youth keelboat instruction, racing and adult instruction, weeknight racing and regattas. In addition, the boats are available for hourly rentals seven days a week until Columbus Day.

The new boats were made in R.I. at Waterline Systems with Hall rigging and North sails. In addition, Ronstan and Interlux generously donated line and bottom paint for the new fleet.

Sailors will notice a green line and arrow on the boats to recognize Sail Newport's seasonal keelboat sponsor Fidelity Investments. Fidelity has signed a longterm sponsorship commitment to Sail Newport's Public Sailing Center which also include title sponsorship of the 30th Anniversary weekend September 27 & 28, and presenting sponsorship of the J22 World Championship October 1-5 to be hosted by Sail Newport.
