Sail for Hope Raises Over $40,000

The 15th Sail for Hope raised over $40,000 for three selected charities this year.   Funds were distributed to the Warrior Sailing Program and the American Red Cross of RI fund for emergency assistance to military families. This year also marked the launch of the Edward Oliver Sanchez, III "Tad" Fund for Youth Sailing. Tad was a Rhode Island sailor who passed this year leaving many friends in the community who wanted to create a legacy in his name.  With the new Tad fund, Sail Newport will create a "big boat" youth sailing program to give teenagers and young adults the opportunity to learn to sail and race on big boats. More information is available on the Sail for Hope page. Total distributed funds equal:

Warrior Sailing        $12,090

Red Cross RI $11,105

Tad Fund $17, 280
