Vincent Pattavina Named Regatta Manager

Sail Newport Executive Director Brad Read announced the appointment of Vincent Pattavina to the role of regatta manager.  Pattavina has been with the non-profit organization for years working in the nationally-recognized youth sailing program.

Read says, "Vincent has a tremendously successful history with Sail Newport.  As our event and regatta schedule grows, not only with the return of the Volvo Ocean Race in 2018, but with many more sailing events on our schedule in 2016 and beyond, his experience with Sail Newport and marine operations will keep us on the world-class regatta management level."

Pattavina is a native of Newport and started at the organization as a youth sailing student. He participated in the Youth Program for several years and then became an instructor in 1999.  In 2008 he was appointed as the assistant program director working with Program Director Kim Hapgood.

Sail Newport's Youth Program trains over 1,000 students each year from age 5 through 17 on all skill levels of youth sailing and racing and creates youth sailing opportunities for community organizations such as the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center, Boys and Girls Clubs,  schools and for many other civic organizations.

In other management news, Kim Hapgood will continue to direct the Youth Program and Kim Cooper will direct a full-time marketing initiative for Sail Newport.
